Liquid Channels Built-In Solid Magnesium Hydrides for Boosting Hydrogen Sorption

چکیده
Realizing rapid and stable hydrogen sorption at low temperature is critical for magnesium-based storage materials. Herein, liquid channels are built in magnesium hydride by introducing lithium borohydride ion conductors as an efficient route improving its sorption. For instance, the 5 wt% LiBH4-doped MgH2 can release about 7.1 wt.% H2 within 40 min 300 °C but pure only desorbs less than 0.7 H2, more importantly it delivers faster desorption kinetics with 10 times enhancement to MgH2. The absorption capacity of still be well kept approximately 7.2 without obvious degradation even after six cycles. This approach not through building transfer a carrier kinetic also inhibiting agglomeration particles obtain cyclic performance, which brings further insights promoting ab-/desorption other metal hydrides.

Complex Hydrides for Hydrogen Storage
Complex hydrides, containing a minimum of 7.5 wt% hydrogen, are being investigated as hydrogen storage compounds for automotive use. As a new project, the work to date has largely involved refurbishment of equipment and acquisition of study materials. Initial experiments have confirmed that the instrumentation is functioning and that the data being obtained agree with that in the literature. In...

Mixing Mg with Ti leads to a hydride Mg(x)Ti((1 - x))H(2) with markedly improved (de)hydrogenation properties for x ≤ 0.8, as compared to MgH(2). Optically thin films of Mg(x)Ti((1 - x))H(2) have a black appearance, which is remarkable for a hydride material. In this paper we study the structure and stability of Mg(x)Ti((1 - x))H(2), x = 0-1 by first-principles calculations at the level of dens...

Enhanced Hydrogen Generation Properties of MgH2-Based Hydrides by Breaking the Magnesium Hydroxide Passivation Layer
Due to its relatively low cost, high hydrogen yield, and environmentally friendly hydrolysis byproducts, magnesium hydride (MgH2) appears to be an attractive candidate for hydrogen generation. However, the hydrolysis reaction of MgH2 is rapidly inhibited by the formation of a magnesium hydroxide passivation layer. To improve the hydrolysis properties of MgH2-based hydrides we investigated three...
متن کاملHydrogen storage in complex metal hydrides
Complex metal hydrides such as sodium aluminohydride (NaAlH4) and sodium borohydride (NaBH4) are solid-state hydrogen-storage materials with high hydrogen capacities. They can be used in combination with fuel cells as a hydrogen source thus enabling longer operation times compared with classical metal hydrides. The most important point for a wide application of these materials is the reversibil...
